Novo vídeo, que tem cenas filmadas na praia de Santa Monica, em Los Angeles, mostra as cantoras se jogando ao som do afrobeat
No primeiro minuto do dia 29, quarta-feira, as cantoras de origem senegalesa Marieme e Diarra Sylla compartilharão com os fãs o videoclipe fruto de sua parceria. “Catch a Vibe” foi lançada no dia 15 e já foi ouvida mais de 40 mil vezes. A faixa se inspira nos sons do afrobeat – ritmo musical que une elementos e sons originados no continente africano – com os tambores sabar, típicos do Senegal. Essa riqueza cultural vem acompanhada de uma música dançante. As próprias artistas compuseram a canção, junto de Davy Nathan (que já trabalhou com Jessie J, Toni Braxton e Queen Latifah) e do beatmaker Ahmed Mane, nascido no Senegal. A direção fica por conta de Kyle Houck. No vídeo, Merieme e Diarra dançam muito ao som do afrobeat, com cenas filmadas na praia de Santa Monica, com o famoso píer ao fundo – um dos cartões postais de Los Angeles, nos EUA.
“Nós nos conectamos online e decidimos que queríamos trabalhar juntas porque nós amamos a vibe uma da outra. Engraçado que a canção chama ‘Catch a Vibe’, nós realmente pegamos a vibe uma da outra. Nós incorporamos nossa cultura nessa música, por meio de tambores representativos dos nossos ritmos. Nós também incorporamos nossa língua nativa Wolof, que tem uma ressonância poderosa”, Marieme comenta, comemorando a parceria com Diarra Sylla.
Os stylists responsáveis pelo audiovisual são Hunter Clem e Nicola Formichetti, que também trabalha com a estrela mundial Lady Gaga. O artista japonês foi, inclusive, diretor de moda de “Chromatica”, projeto lançado pela cantora norte-americana em 2020. Nicola já classificou Marieme como uma “diva galáctica”. Ela, por sua vez, ressalta que “ele tem uma visão incrível e, mais importante, é também um ser humano incrível”. Outro ponto alto são as pinturas corporais em neon, assinadas pela americana Kelsea Ray.
O resultado da colaboração agradou as cantoras. “O videoclipe é quente. Eu estou tão animada para isso. Diarra e eu trouxemos conceitos e nós trabalhamos duro para trazer nossas visões de vida. O nosso visual no videoclipe está incrível e acho que capturamos muito bem a essência do momento atual das nossas carreiras e também aonde queremos chegar”, explica Marieme. “As pessoas podem esperar muitas cores, muito ritmo e muita diversão!”, garante Diarra.
Radicada nos Estados Unidos, Marieme une referências do Senegal, onde nasceu, e da cultura negra norte-americana em sua música. Já citou nomes como Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone e Bob Marley dentre suas influências musicais. Por sua vez, Diarra Sylla tem origem francesa-senegalesa e ganhou destaque global por fazer parte do supergrupo Now United. Atualmente em carreira solo, a artista não é estranha ao público brasileiro: colaborou com Luísa Sonza e Bruno Martini em “Ain’t Worried”, lançada em 2021.
